Location - Dhule District is located in northern side of Maharashtra state spread between Lattitude 20 38' to 21 61' N and Longitude 73 50' to 75 11' E. It is located at the crossing of Three National Highways namely NH-6 (Surat - Nagpur) , NH-3 ( Mumbai - Agra ) and NH-211 (Dhule - Solapur). Dhule city is the Headquarter of District Dhule and is located about 340 Kms NE of Mumbai while 350 Kms Norht of Pune. District is bounded by district Nandurbar in the North-West , District Nashik in south and District Jalgaon in East. Area and admnistrative Divisions - Dhule District having an Area of 8061 Sq.Kms.
Sailent Physical Features and Land Use Patterns Dhule District having one major River-basin Viz. Tapi-Basin. The District is bounded in the north by Satpuda Hill ranges. The Height varies between 300 to 600 Mtrs above M.S.L. The Soil having alluvial & Loamy nature Land use Patterns
Geology and Geomorphology - The general geological Succession is as below : Alluvium / Soil Vsesicular Amygodoloidal Basalt Massive Basalt Few dykes are present in the district . The density of dykes increases towards North. Climate and Rainfall - Climate of the District is Hot and Dry. Temperature in Centigrade -- Maximum - 45o C Minimum - 06 C The Rainfall statistics are as follows :- Total Rainfall - 395 mm. Average Rainfall - 592 mm. Maximum Rainfall - 994 mm. Socio-Economic Features - In the Urban Area of the District 50 to 75% population is Agriculturalists and Agrcultural labours, where as in the rural area more than 95% population is Agriculturalists and Agrcultural labours. Due to drought conditions of the district and absence of major industrial growth, most of agriculural labours are migrating in nearby districts and states like Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh , generally in the months of October to March in the year. River Systems and Dams Dhule District has following rivers alive in only mansoon season. These rivers forms the part of Tapi basin. Tapi river originating from ranges of Gavilgad of Maharashtra is the major river in the District . The Entire region of the district is drained by tributories of Tapi river , which are as below -- Tapi River - Arunavati , Aner , Gomati , Vaki , Bori , Panzara , Kan , Burai , Amaravati , Madari , Bhad , Nagan.
